CMP-Soft, LLC is a privately held company that is owned and directed by Dr. Christian Mueller-Planitz.
In addition to his role at CMP-Soft, Dr. Mueller-Planitz was president, CTO and co-founder of Failsafe Technologies, a company which focused on Internet security. The company’s award winning product was “Guard-IE”, an Internet privacy tool that got rave reviews in online- and printed media. The product and the company were eventually bought by EarthLink in 2002.
While working at EarthLink, Dr. Mueller-Planitz was the principal engineer of the EarthLink Toolbar and the EarthLink ScamBlocker which was the first commercially available anti-phishing product on the market. The ScamBlocker was used by millions of EarthLink’s users and was licensed to major financial institutions across the USA. In a test by Carnegie Mellon University, the ScamBlocker ranked higher than competing products from Microsoft and other security companies.
Prior to starting Failsafe Technologies and CMP-Soft, Dr. Mueller-Planitz has held several research positions at the University of Utah and has worked at Hewlett Packard Labs, Palo Alto, California, where he developed agent-based distributed management systems.
Dr. Mueller-Planitz received an Electrical Engineering degree in Germany, graduated from North Carolina State University with a M.S. in Computer Engineering and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah in May 2000.
